I’ve challenged my entire family to write a will by the 26th of July. It’s rather hard to believe that my last post on this topic was 11 months ago. That’s shocking. I have all the info, I just need updated bequest information and also need to have the title deeds of our house put into our names so it’s all legal! Then away I go! I’m sure I can get this done, I just need to pull my finger out (and boss my family around a bit!).
Wish me luck! I’m going to need it.

Bequest: I know the charity I wish to leave a bequest to, and have their information so I know the correct wording. I don’t have much family so working out the who gets what rubbish is easy, and it’s made easier by me not actually having much to start with!
The Public Trustee will help me write my will, be the executor of my will (saving any member from my family from having to do so at such a horrible time, well it may be horrible!) and will even witness it so everything is legal. I just have to make an appointment with them, knowing the outlines of what I want to leave to whom and they help word it all in legal speak. Being the Public Trustee, they will also hold the will legally until I die.
The best thing is: Making your Will with the Public Trustee as your executor is free of charge, as are any subsequent updates you make as your circumstances change. Fees for estate administration are only incurred when the estate is administered. (Yay!)
Now I have to work out the funeral arrangements as this can be held with the will so my family need not worry about much except the little things they wish to add.
It will be good when this is done. I think everyone should have a will. It’s the responsible thing to have done so those left behind don’t have to deal with these issues.
