I am not one of them.

I could make up a story about this photo of how, quite by accident, the microwave was stopped just as the timer reached 43 seconds and, by some magical alignment of neurons, I noticed the occurrence, stopped what I was doing, and snapped the pic in a single go. But I would be lying, of course. This shot is completely contrived.

And I guess I should really clean the front of the microwave.

Yes, another street sign. I didn’t realize just how hard it would be to find things with the number 43 on them. This sign is rather nearby on a good walking route along Lake Washington.

I took a little detour on my way to lunch today. This corner is in a residential section of the suburban wasteland known as Bellevue, Washington. I have the dubious honor of spending 40 hours a week toiling away out here, but every evening I get to return to the urban oasis of Seattle so I’m not complaining.

A note about this otherwise unremarkable snapshot: it’s just after the winter solstice which means here on the 47th parallel shadows, even at mid-day, are long and dramatic. This picture would likely have been washed out completely had I taken it at high noon, June 28th. Also, it’s quite lucky that the sun is making an appearance at all today.
