I’ve been critiquing (on average) a couple of short stories per week for the past few months. I’ve sought out and read a few more. I’m contemplating a subscription to Carousel, a Canadian lit mag. Maybe I’ll order a back issue for now just to see what it’s all about.

I joined Critique Circle (www.critiquecircle.com) in hopes of achieving this end. So far it’s been great – there is some great work out there, and getting the opportunity (and the gentle kick-in-the-butt) to read it is great.
What I need to do next is seek out published short stories, and the magazines/markets that publish them. I want to see what’s out there and get an idea of what I should be writing for. I like to think that I am able to write well for a particular medium – but knowing the medium is pretty key to that. ;-)
