I’m doing a horrible job of this.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
– From the movie, “Coach Carter”
Sometimes you hear something, said in just the right way, and it makes you cry because if feels so right.
I feel the weight of my parents’ expectations; they’ve had set goals for me, and they’ve constricted me and prevented me from exploring. They do it because they want me to be a success, but I am my own person, and my own dreams and goals are constantly shifting, and my version of success is different from theirs. My goal, is to stop worrying about letting them down, and to do what feels right, rather than what I’m told is right.
