I’m anticipating cross country will be painful. I’ve gone to two of the fun runs this summer. One I didn’t eat anything before I went and ended feeling dizzy and having a stomach ache, and the other was a workout in which I fell way behind. I can’t imagine trying to push myself for 5k every meet!

Did a 5k today on a “challenging, hilly course”. It was really hard! I’m glad I did it (I got a shirt!) and I feel better now, but when I got done my body felt horrible. And I don’t even have a good time to show for it! However, it’s a starting point: I can only get better than this during cross country. And motivation to train this summer!
Either going on a long run today or tomorrow; if today, perhaps on the trails near my house?
I’m very glad I decided to do outdoor track, and I think I’ll probably do cross country, too. I’m getting spikes this week. Practice all vacation, but I’m going to miss running when we go to Florida for band.
I’ve almost decided to do outdoor track this spring. I went to the meeting at school yesterday, got the papers, etc. There were some people I knew there who talked to me, so that made me feel more confident, and I may have confinced my friend to do it too. I just hope she doesn’t drag me down-I’m not going to walk with her if she has to walk. Now I sound really selfish, and I am, because I’m doing this for me. I want to get better at running. Plus, odds are, I’ll get at least a shirt by the end of the season. =)
It’s almost too good to be true. But I ran 2 miles today, for the first time around my house since a couple weeks ago, and I was pretty okay. On one hand, I feel bad for slacking, but on the other hand, I don’t want to rush into running and have my legs hurting again. Plus the mile in gym is coming up soon. =/
I’m reading this running book, and it talked about how you don’t burn more fat than carbs until about 30 min. or so into a run, so I’ve been running 30 min./a workout this week, and I’m feeing pretty good. =)
So I’ve been reading all over the place that you shouldn’t run with an ipod outside—naturally I’ve been disregarding this advice, because really, how can I run without it? But the other day I went for my first easy run ever: no music to keep up with, no stopwatch. It was really enjoyable and peaceful, and it took me about the same time it would have if I had been worrying about my time while listening to my ipod, etc.
Also, I’ve been reading a book on running, and on days when I don’t feel like going out and doing anything, I’ll read, then feel inspired. Really, it feels stupid NOT to go run.
So yeah. Stuff’s been pretty good lately. I just hate how I have no endurance, and I don’t seem to have gained much this summer.
I was supposed to run today: I missed yesterday and Friday. But considering I pulled an all-nighter reading Harry Potter, I don’t think that would be a very good idea…
Since I’m out of school, this week, my mom and I have been going to the local YMCA. I’ve been running on this treadmill they have there, and I really like it. My parents won’t be inclined, I’m sure, to buy a new treadmill when we have an old one that works fine in our basement, but yeah. I’m checking out prices. ;-)
