At 50,014 words, I can proudly say I’m a winner!
This was my first year of doing NaNoWriMo, and I never thought I could actually do it. Thank you for all the cheers!!!

Only 7,335 words to go! I’m doing so well I can’t quite grasp it myself :-) I’m being extremely proud of myself currently. All the more because I’m writing in Finnish.
With all our suffixes and inflections, the words in the Finnish language are looong. ‘Kuljeskellessaan’ would translate as “as s/he was lazily wandering about”. It’d be perfectly reasonable to proportion the average numbers of words in a novel in all the participating languages and calculate separate word goals for each. I’m sure Finns would only need 25,000 or less…
I’m past 37K this morning. Ahead of me is a dreadful weekend NaNo-wise. I don’t think I’ll manage to squeeze in any time for writing, which means I’m gonna be in trouble Sunday night! So far, I’ve kept to my daily routine of 2,000 or so. Actually, I’ve been so loyal it’s gonna feel weird tonight without any typing :-)
25K… done!
I’m trying to write a detective parody with a message :-) My problems at the moment are a) I have too much of a message for what’s going to be a 300-page novel, the actual plot and the intended ideology of consumer criticism, pro-feminism, and general pessimism are out of balance; b) I lack succulent dialogue; and c) I have yet to find a logic for bringing the two Main Plot patterns together. Other than that, I should be having no trouble for the remaining 25K. Yay!
Done 10K, only 40 more to go!!! It’s all unsufferable trash really, but at least I’m enjoying my time with the main characters. Plus I’m determined to win. Imdeterminedto winimdeterminedtowinimdeterminedtowin.
