We have maple leaves!

These cute little things are going to get big and require raking, aren’t they? Screw that, I don’t rake. I’m fine with letting them blow down wherever they want to go.

Finally! Sandwiched it right in between Earth Day and Arbor Day

My daughter came home from school yesterday with a tree. A TREE! I love her school. All the children got a red maple to bring home. It’s only a tiny sapling so we potted it for now. We have some time to figure out the perfect spot for it while it gets a little bigger. They are fast growers and will provide up to a 40-foot canopy of shade. Plus its leaves are on the Canadian flag, and I like Canadians. :)

Am considering

A dogwood. Not too huge and it flowers. It may be the right size. I hear Red Maples grow very fast but they may be too big for my little yard. Still, I would love to have those big crunchy leaves to play in.

Not yet

I was too busy with flowers on Earth Day to plant my tree, but I have got to do something! Check out this picture. This is the playhouse that overlooks my neighbor’s yard and my own, and tonight I noticed they also have a telescope! You can just see it if you look on the porch of the playhouse in the photo.

formerly "plant a lemon tree"

I need some kind of tree at least. For privacy. The neighbor behind me built his kid a big playhouse and it abuts the back fence and overlooks my tiny yard. It has windows on each side, and the little girl and her friends are up there most days spying on the neighborhood.
