Future project

This looks cool, in case I ever have to work in the office again. You think I could get away with it?

Altered clothing

I just picked up this publication called Altered Couture and it is so cool. I’m ready to try some of these! Many of them don’t even look difficult. And the clothes are very funky-styley! I’ve never been known for wearing cutting-edge clothing or anything like that, but I know this – cookie-cutter clothing that I see in most stores, and that I tend to buy because I can’t be bothered to look further, is really boring and I’m just tired of it. It doesn’t reflect who I am on the inside. I go around looking crumpled and dull, and while I don’t delude myself into thinking I’m the most fascinating person in the world, I do think I’m at least somewhat interesting and not entirely mainstream, and I want to express that better than I have in the past.

Recycled necktie part 2

Here’s the other piece. I used a bright yellow button this time to make it look less conservative. This is such an easy project, and it hides my sucky sewing skills.

I just looked at this photo, and damn, I’m white! Hard to believe I have lived in a tropical climate all my life. I need to get out more.

Raided the thrift store for some ties

Turned this one into a wrist cuff by just cutting off the end, hemming it, sewing on the button and snipping a slit for it. I still have the other end of it, which is skinnier, so next I’ll make a matching choker.
