My self-portrait looks vaguely like me, I think (although my little girl couldn’t identify it as me!), but the drawing-someone-from-memory exercise is difficult! I drew my sister and the only thing that was easy was the wild blond curly mane. I don’t know how those criminal sketch artists manage to get accurate representations from victims! (Or do they? Remember the Unabomber’s picture?) Anyway, I was looking at it and I knew it looked wrong but I just didn’t know how to fix it. Memory is so fallible and inexact.

And I have my materials together, so now I just have to follow through and start! Oh boy, that first drawing is going to be scary. Or just funny. :) No, you want to hear the funny part? When I looked at the back of the book, it has two self-portraits from the same person, the before- and after-instruction versions. And I was more taken with the before portrait! Yeah, the after one was more realistic, but I liked how silly the before one looked. :)
