I looked into Ubuntu and my software needs and I’m convinced that it will be able to meet my “Bible scholar” needs with the availably software and WINE (one freeware Windows Interlinear Bible program that I use has a section on its website for WINE configuration under Ubuntu). As an added bonus I know of two local people who use Ubuntu, so when I’m ready to make the switch I know that I’ll have the needed support in place to make it happen smoothly.

I want to find out first if Linux is suitable for my needs and if so which version would be the best given the countless versions out there. I also found out that my girlfriend is potentially up for me giving her computer a Linux makeover if I gain enough confidence to change over my primary computer to Linux. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to get started?
