I got the job, I start in 12 hours. Hopefully it will be 12 hour shifts as well to alleviate the cost of the 2 hour round trip.
I’ve gotten more calls in the past month than in the previous year. Lots of disappointment in the end including money spent on my part for jobs I never got. I have accepted a LOWER paying job with more hours than my current one but have not yet started. I just got called about a higher paying job but only a three week contract. I told them I’m interested and they should call back soon.
I really should have specified get a better paying job since I’ve had my current job for over a year now.
Got to work and was told none of the clients were answering their phones, (The clients schedule the work to begin with). Lofted around for a while hoping the clients would call in before coming home. Pretty shitty feeling.
Cornered a previous employer as he was pulling out of his driveway on the way home and asked him if he had any work for me. Maybe. I get lots of maybes.
I’ve been working part time for a few weeks now, the wage is good but there are not enough hours to really make a good paycheck.
I think I’ve been a good employee, being proactive in both actions and language in the 7 habits sense (Not just the shitty buzzword sense)
~
Lindsey Naegle: We at the network want a dog with attitude. He’s edgy. You’ve heard the expression “Let’s get busy”? Well, this is a dog who gets biz-ay; consistently and thoroughly.
Krusty: So he’s proactive?
Lindsey Naegle: Oh, God yes! We’re talking about a totally outrageous paradigm.
Writer: Excuse me, but “proactive” and “paradigm”? Aren’t those just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I’m accusing you of anything like that…. I’m fired aren’t I?
(Truth being that both Proactive and Paradigm were overused in the 90’s after their popularization by some mormon motivational speaker.)
I’ve landed some seasonal part time work but I still need something that can bring in rent, insurance, food, plus an extra bit for savings and spending.
