Re : August Rush 4 months ago

1 week left in the month of August and 0 out of 7 August goals done. I suppose I would settle for getting 4 goals done at this point.

August Rush. 4 months ago

In July I said I would complete 7 goals in August. The month is halfway over and I’m sitting at 0 out of 7 goals completed. I really want to get things done but the heat and humidity makes me even more lethargic than my regular self. I have caffeine and ephedrine handy to get me moving but it just makes the heat worse. I don’t move much because of the heat, then I gain weight from inactivity which is followed by even more heat fatigue due to the extra weight gained. This really is a vicious cycle. The worst thing is this is my least stressful summer in years. Tons of free time but still very little to show for it.

I’m going to put aside my plan of being in bed before midnight in order to go for midnight bike rides.

Time keeps on slipping... 7 months ago

I just noticed I gave my 1000th cheer while having received 485.

With that I noticed 48 or 10% of all my cheers went to one goal: Finnish my Bachelors Degree. Out of my 43 active cheerable goals, or a total of 63 goals I’ve had on my list 1/10 of all cheers are concentrated on one goal.

It might possibly be because it was the first goal on the list and first spotted when returning a cheer. I would rather think/believe that perhaps other people simply knew what was best for me while I was wasting hours that accumulated into months, years doing nothing online. Right now the usual suspects are facebook and online games. In the past they have included various forums; usually strength related and msn.

I have done away with online forums and staring at my msn screen waiting for somebody of note to come online. Yet I always seem to find some source of procrastination to replace what ever I get under control or do away with entirely.

As of today,
I am staying away from online games completely and only checking facebook if I am prompted to by e-mail.

Returning to cheers received, my second most cheered goal was “Counter-Protest Anti-Abortion Protesters” a goal that has received 26 cheers all from girls/women and surprisingly no negative comments as of yet.

3rd place “read every book I own” a goal I consider nearly impossible but is cheered back because I cheer so many people with the common goal.

4th. “Learn to read music” I’m working on it, not hard enough though because I’m currently taking a music course yet haven’t opened the books yet.

5th. “be a glass artist” Interesting because it’s a very minor goal to me, usually near the bottom of the list. All female cheers, possibly imagining a glass artist as an admirable object of romantic desire. If that is the case, I have enclosed a picture of Dale Chihuly to skewer that thought. See the picture at the top of this post.

6th. “Sell my unwanted stuff on eBay” a very recent goal that gathered cheers quickly for reasons unknown. It certainly wont make me a better person and is not as admirable as giving it away to charity would be.

7th. “Read the entire bible” I probably would not receive these cheers if people knew the pure disdain I have for this book. I knew from selected readings that it was full of absurdities but reading it first hand and analyzing the passages just shows how consistently ridiculous it is word for word. It is however, the most influential work of literature in the world (the old testament has it’s grip on Judaism, Christianity and Islam.) With that said it is worth being deeply familiar with.

I don’t expect too many people to read this massive wall of text. I simply felt I need to write this down somewhere.

Hopefully when read this again in a year I will smile at the improvement I’ve made. I really hope I do.

Keeping the computer off for a few days, It will do me some good.

I was doing good for a while but now that the days are getting shorter the winter blues have me sitting in front of the computer screen far too often, doing nothing productive.

I really do suck at this but at least this should remind me not to waste hours at a time on the net reading random forum postings regarding stuff I stopped caring about long ago.
