Fine, ok then, if you’re so tough how about we face this huh? How about you stop yelling and shouting and actually be brave enough to let me face this once and for all? You can trust me. Look, didn’t I comfort the child and the Girl? Didn’t I let their pain be acknowledged? Didn’t I wrap my arms around them while their tears came?
I know you thought something physical was going to give way in your chest, but it didn’t did it? I held you tighter until it subsided. I need your strength and determination now. Don’t fight me; I’m not the enemy. We can do this together you know, we can become such good friends. Just trust me, ok?
So how about we change your name? How would that make you feel? It’s not nice being called Bitch all the time is it? I think you deserve to have a noble name, a name that reflects who you are and what you’ve done for Me and the child. What do you think about that?
No, let’s not laugh at the child wanting to change her name to Betty Pink; she thinks it’s pretty.
C’mon, this is about you. That’s what you want isn’t it? A little bit of appreciation? Some positive attention?
That’s what I thought.
So, as I said, how about we change your name? Like, to a Goddess name? Exciting huh?
Now see, before we get started on what name, we’ve got to do a deal, all right? You’ve got to drop the angry; we’re not having an angry Goddess. You have to stop shouting and bullying. I’m more than willing to listen but you have to talk properly, ok?
Now, I’m thinking you’re all about justice, right and wrong, defence; how do you like the name Dike? Wait…hold up…before you start with the negative connotations with that word…..let me assure you, it is the greatest of compliments. Listen to what she represents……
Dike (or Dicé) was the goddess of justice, fair judgements and the rights established by custom and law. She was also one of the Horai, goddesses of the seasons, and keepers of the gates of heaven. Her sisters were Eunomia (Good Order, Good Pastures) and Eirene (Peace, Spring). Like her siblings she probably also represented some aspect of the springtime growth. Dike was identified with Dikaiosyne (Righteousness) and Astraia (the Contellation Virgo). Her opposite number was Adikia (Injustice).
You have to believe me, this is one amazing name to have….and if you keep your promise and trust me, and remember, no more misdirected anger…..you’re going to get the recognition you deserve sweetie. I do worship you, for bringing us all this far and for being my driving force so often. Your name doesn’t suit you at all. You’ve been horribly labelled for long enough.
Think about it; as well as everything else the name Dike represents, it’s used as an insulting word to describe a lesbian. Why should this be an insult? Let’s you and I reclaim the pride and beauty of the Goddess Dike as well as celebrating the wonder of you. How about that?
So we have a deal then?
Good.
Loving you.
