get my bachelor's degree

My finals were yesterday and I did pretty well on both. I expect an A in both my classes.

Those finals brought me halfway to my bachelor’s degree. My associate’s should be arriving in the mail by the end of this month. At least I have some sort of a degree now (well, soon). I’m not sure how far an associate’s will get me, though.

Not that I’m stopping here. I WILL obtain at least a bachelor’s.

Today is my last day of class aside from one day of finals. Relief! I will be done with school for awhile! However, this also makes me nervous. School has always been a part of my life and I’m afraid that I will be bored to death without it and that I will lose the knowledge I have acquired. Since I am about to have a baby, I’m afraid that I will never be able to come back.

I will have my Associate’s degree soon (whenever they send out diplomas—probably by the end of this month). This brings me one big step closer to my Bachelor’s degree, but it seems so far off in the future since I will probably not be able to attend school full time anymore. We’ll see.

I am thankful for this break in school because I really need more time to figure out what sort of career I want. Slowly I am getting to know myself more and coming closer to figuring things out. More time for this has been given to me, and it is exactly what I needed. School will be much easier if I know what I am aiming for. I will have a goal to focus on and I will not have to take unnecessary courses.

I received a letter the other day stating that I am definitely eligible to receive my Associate’s in Art AND Science. Everything is set up and I will be receiving my degree this December.

I feel a little better knowing that I will at least have some sort of degree before the baby is born. My first worry when I found out that I am pregnant was school. My ambition was to get a master’s degree. I was planning to transfer to a four year university this fall (of 2006). Those plans were obviously put on hold since the baby will be here in February. Instead, I decided to finish my Associate’s for now.

Although the closest four year university is an hour away, I think I can still obtain my bachelor’s after taking a year or so off. I just won’t get the real college experience, but my son is already worth it.

Obtaining my bachelor’s is a long term goal since I will be taking some time off from school to have a baby.
However, today I am officially registered to graduate with my associate’s degree this December.
