My mission for today is to clean out as many drawers as I can. The cleaning one drawer a day goal did not work out, for I lost motivation. I’m never good at getting things done by doing a little bit everyday. I am more of a get it all done at once kind of person.
At least the column I am reserving for the baby is almost empty. My boyfriend asked if he could steal one of those drawers because his gigantic tshirt collection is spilling out of his own. I suppose I can do this, at least until my closet is cleaned out, because he can have most of that. My clothes are all in a closet elsewhere in the house, so I won’t be needing it and Leo’s things that need to be hung will not take up much room.
In doing this, I have allowed myself to let go of a lot of old junk. I feel lighter and less cluttered. I never realized how distressed being surrounded by clutter can make me feel.

So I’ve decided to tackle at least one drawer a day. Yesterday I cleaned out one of the most junky ones and filled an entire kitchen sized trash bag with garbage. I feel so wasteful not recycling it since it’s pretty much all paper, but I didn’t think of that until I saw the huge amount in the end. I’m not about to go through it all AGAIN to sort out the paper.
After my drawers are clean, I will have to tackle my shelves and closet. That will be no picnic!!!

One wall in my room is lined with built in drawers and they are filled with junk from my childhood. It’s been stashed in there for years and I could really use the space for things that I use now. Also, I need the space for baby clothes! I’ll leave a column of them empty for his things.
I’ve started this project and never finished many times because I just don’t know what to do with all that stuff. I’m too nostalgic so I don’t want to throw it out, but I know that I will never use any of it again and it’s taking up space!
