I defrosted my freezer last night. It was so satisfying when the big chunk on the roof of the freezer came down in one big chunk.
It looks nice and tidy in there now.
I cleaned my oven last week. I feel proud of myself for it.
And the other day I cleaned the wallpaper near my oven to remove grease scum. I used a citrus cleaner and even did one coat of bleach.
Doing these big infrequent tasks is much more exciting than the regular keeping up with laundry and dishes.
I like have a tidy home that runs like a well oiled machine but sometimes I get lazy. Being lazy just backfires though because you end up having to do more work to catch-up.
I’m much better at this than I was – now I try and doing a bit of kitchen cleaning/routines when I’m waiting for things to cook, eg empty the dishwasher while I’m defrosting meat in the microwave.
My laundry system needs to be a bit more regular, as does my deep-cleaning stuff.
I read flylady’s emails for inspiration, but don’t follow the missions, although I think I will when I become a stay-at-home-mum.
