Finally saw Citizen Kane today. My first reaction was “Blah”, but I could see why it was so defining, and the more I think about it… the more I like it.
I’m only at about 20 films, which really shocked me… but then I remembered that I watch a fair share of good foreign films. I’ll be seeing Bridge on the River Kwai this week at a showing on campus. I would love to rent more often but my funds are limited as a college student… then I realized that my very modest college library has a few titles on VHS (especially the ones I really want to see), like Dr. Strangelove…, The African Queen (which I saw when I was little, but really want to re-watch it), and Casablanca… we even have Run Lola Run, which isn’t on the AFI list… but I still want to see it.
