So, in the past year and a half I’ve lost over 80 pounds. A lot of it was going on a very strict diet and eating plan for my diabetes. Well I’ve slid off the path a bit and need to re-focus. I’ve made a goal to lose 20 pounds by the end of June. It may seem unrealistic, but at least it’s a goal. Should I not acheive it, I plan to donate to a local wildlife rescue fund.
Now that the weather has taken a nicer turn, which I hope will continue throughout the month, it’s time to strap on those walking shoes and start anew. I need to start a weight lifting plan to do a little bit of toning to my body (well ok a LOT of toning) and really start making the most of exercise. It’ll only do my body good, no matter how much I’ll whine about it.
Over the next week or two I’ll be re-evluating my goals both on here and irl. It’s time to make a change for the better and place the fat unhealthy me on the shelf for good.

Well it had been working. After the long winter cold and the holidays, I need to get back on track. We’ve started walking again and hopefully we’ll get it back to a regular thing. We’re both in need of getting back into shape. I’ve found my diabetes diet plan again and I’m going to go back on it strictly.
FOURTY MORE POUNDS LEFT TO GO! Not bad for how far I’ve come already! I’m hoping I can start to kick this last fourty again. I’d kind of given up over the holidays. It’s so very hard to be “good” thankfully I wasn’t too bad! :)

First I want to thank those of you who wrote words of support and wishes for health and healing. Your entries meant a lot to me! Thanks a bunch.
We’re on our fourth straight day of walking for at least half an hour. Up to three miles so far, and hoping to just keep expanding it more and more.
We have a pretty nice walking area just up the road from our house. Granted it’s a cemetary, but the paved circulal (like an infinity symbol with an extra bubble) road is the perfect walking surface. It’s quiet and we get to enjoy watching the canadian geese while we walk.
We’ve now got to find a place to walk when it’s crappy out. My mother suggests the mall, but if you go in the evening you have to fight the crowd and can’t get a real flow going. Once I get a job, I’m hoping to get us both back into the Y or into the fitness club near us. The bad thing is they’re both at least 15 minutes away. We had a membership with the Y but found it hard to fit the time in to get there and exercise all before eating in the evening. I’m also thinking that if I keep my eye on freecycle for my area, I might be able to get some gym equipment for free and maybe convert our unused barn space into workout area. It’ll be cold in the winter, but at least we’ll have space. Who knows…these are all plans for the future.

After much testing (which still isn’t concluded) and poking and prodding by the doctors, it has been found that my husband has fatty liver. We’re hoping that is the only problem and not something more serious, which the rest of the test will determine. Steatosis, the official diagnosis. This can lead to cirrosis of the liver if not treated. The treatment you ask….exercise and healthy diet.
The bad thing is that my husband is not a drinker, never had hepatitis, is young and not overly overweight. The drs are puzzled.
So now we’re trying to get onto a regular routine that will help with bringing our weight down. For the time being we are going to do walking around town. I’m hoping that further down the road I’ll be able to talk him into a health club membership and some weight lifting. I’m sure if he toned up, and we worked out religiously then we’d both be feeling better.
Our goals now revolve on getting in at least a half hour walk every day. It’s no longer a three times weekly exercise habit. I doubt will stick to the full week right off the bat, but at least we can aim for it. I’m hoping to have him sit down with me in the next few days to really figure out where we want to go with things. Because of his condition he feels lethargic and tired all the time. That of course will change as we lose weight and get healthier, but it’s a battle for now.

I fit in two days worth of working out this week! That’s a HUGE step to my goal of working out three days a week. I’m hoping to walk tomorrow and then I can consider my goal reached for the week. I spent Thursday and Friday at the pool with two different groups of children. First my nephew and I went swimming. We spent a total of 2.5 hours in the pool. When I’m in the pool I try very hard to keep my feet from the ground treading water and whatnot. On the adult swims he sat at the side of the pool while I did laps. I felt pretty accomplished. Then I took the children I babysit to the pool on friday. We spent a total of four hours at the pool. I know that I got at least an hour worth of lap swimming in. Most of it all at the same time. My arms are aching today and when I got home yesterday I was so exhausted that I napped for about 20 minutes, but what a workout. I feel great and hope to continue with some activity at least 3 times a week. I’m hoping for more though. I actually thought about getting up early this morning and walking….but my lazy bum didn’t want to get out of bed it was too warm and snuggly with the dh.

I’ve been swimming at least twice a week for the last three weeks. So that’s a start. My husband goes in for his follow up tomorrow and hopefully we’ll be back on the walking track.

I’ve been trying to get back on track. We (my husband and I) were doing really well for awhile and then he started not feeling well and we kind of let things slip. I”m hoping once the heat wave we’ve been having calms down a bit we’ll be back on track. He just went to the DRs today and is now on antibiotics and has a CATscan scheduled for next week. They’re thinking it’s something to do with his kidneys so we’re hoping it’s just either an infection or stones. Nothing overly serious or diblitating. So if he starts feeling better, we’ll be back to walking. I’m also working with a yahoogroup I started for friends of mine. We’re all pitching in to keep each other motivated and being supportive. We’re in a slow period there too. I think a lot of people are fitting in those last vacations before School starts back up.
