After seeing what happened today in Venezuela, I decided to re-visit this goal as I feel very few people understand the harm that was done to that country when Jimmy Carter validated Chavez as a legitimate ruler.
I feel serious pitty for anybody living there right now, and I’m afraid that the US will not only pay for Mr. Carter’s actions through higher rates for oil, but also by having to house thousands more of refugees that flee yet another communist country destroyed by a dictator.
It is a sad sad day.

I like Michael Savage in a strange way. I don’t always see things just as he does, although I always appreciate his intellectuality and the time he takes to craft each thought that comes out of his mouth. Listening to him is like watching a really good chef prepare a perfect meal. You can taste every ingredient he includes, you can feel the aromas starting to come together, and when he’s done, you feel glad to have his company in your car on your way home. But that’s not really why I like him. I like him because of the nostalgia in his voice, that memory of a different America, of other times.
The first time I came here, I just loved it. America to me was a huge airport in Miami, the perfectly manicured city of Orlando, the awesome Kennedy Space Center, a pile of Time and People magazines, and friendly faces everywhere. America didn’t feel divided to me in the 90’s. Maybe because I was a tourist, or maybe because I was 13 years old, but it just felt fun and safe, like nothing could ever go wrong; and people everywhere wore t-shirts with flag motifs.
I miss that. I feel part of that sense of pride is lost, but there’s so much to be proud of.
