get a bike

Like in January or February – been biking often ever since! :)

This is copy pasted from freecycle modsquad message that I wrote. One of the people posted that they wanted a bike, and I wanted to start this campaign:

Since I want a bicycle too, I have decided that I will walk to and from work because I want a bicycle. For everyday that I save 6 pounds of taxi money, i will give myself 10 pounds.

Can I use freecycle to start an “Earn a bike” campaign? For every time you skip a taxi and take a walk you will get xyz (pounds, points, parts of a bike), and then in the end, you will “earn a bike”.

I still have to figure out how to get sponsors for this.

Please let me know if I could organise this, or you could personally help me with how i could organise this (even outside of freecycle, preferably inside). This is especially important in cairo, egypt which is so packed with taxi-traffic that it is both killing the environment (it makes me scared to breathe.. i think i will develop a mental disorder by walking in the invisible toxic fumes), and it is also actually a health hazard to ride a bike in Cairo. It is a brave step to ask for a bike, because if you ride it here, where the drivers here don’t respect walkers, sometimes they could get driven over. My feet have suffered a couple of times, thankfully not recently. But I am afraid to ride a bicycle in Cairo. Still, it is important and it must be done. Thank you for your help. :)

I know the answer is “just do it”, but I don’t know how to start, I am afraid and I need all the help I can get.
