Visited credit union yesterday, and they’re working on getting the credit-card-in-good-standing onto my credit report. Won’t be amazingly helpful, but hey, it’s a start!

...and it’s looking sad. One good thing: I noticed that a credit card in very good standing is not listed. So I can call them and ask that they make a report that I’m an okay gal. We’ll see what that does.
For all my uniqueness, for all my successes, for all my efforts, hours worked per week (90 sometimes!), and passion….again, for all my uniqueness…it’s amazing that when I want to push forward with something, it all comes down to a flippin’ number that defines my financial (and thereby social) worth.
My ex-husband of a mere 6 months now was in charge of all the finances. Never again will I let someone take the reins…it’ll be okay for someone to take the lead, but I’ll never remain in the dark again, especially when everything’s under my name because I’m the one with the good credit. (Which should have been a red flag to begin with.)
I made the mistake of trying to rebuild my credit by applying for credit. But declined application after declined application has made matters worse, because now I have “too many inquiries” on my credit report.
I think this goal is going to be a years-long one. A year of bills paid on time and debt paid down to prove I’m not financially worthless. Patience. ARGH.
