The fake nails thing doesn’t always work out (I have my hands in water all the time and it drastically shortens the life span of the nails) but it’s definitely been helping my legs in that it’s really hard to scratch them with the nails on. I’ve also stopped using lotion completely – and so far it’s working. I definitely have dryer skin, but on the plus side, I’m not unbearably itchy 10 minutes later, even with my unscented “hypoallergenic” lotion. I feel like I should almost be treating my leg skin the same way as I treat my face…it certainly seems to clear up when I use the acne cleanser. I also suspect it maye have something to do with poor circulation (even though I’m on my feet all day). I definitely feel itchy as soon as I take stockings off, even if I wasn’t itchy before I put them on! Probably circulation isses. I’m focusing on drinking more water, massaging my legs to stimulate better circulation, and wearing fake nails as much as possible.

I started wearing looser pants and wearing calf-length stockings underneath to minimize the chafing caused by fabric against my legs. It also looks more professional :) On top of this, I’ve taken to using facial scrub on my legs once a week, and though it sounds odd, it’s really helped a lot! Shaving regularly also seems to help, which is interesting b/c before, it used to only make them worse. I can’t do much about dry air or wearing pants, but my legs are consistently clearer most of the time, which is the most progress I’ve ever seen!!
I’ve been eating less bread and sweet stuffs, and more veggies and fruits and potatoes instead, and things have been looking up! Pair that with St. Ives, exfoliating regularly, and wearing fake nails, and my legs are looking pretty good! Not totally clear, and pasty white from winter, but much much better! I’m not confident about them yet but I’m pretty happy!
For some reason, though they’ve been itchy lately, they’re looking pretty good, good enough that I can wear sheer stockings instead of opaque black ones to work! I’ve been eating a lot of carbs lately, which was not helping, but when I started eating more veggies and drinking V*, downing water and less coffee, they started clearing up again. This kind of puts me at a loss, because I don’t know how on earth they got cleared up, especially with this dry weather! I want to try a fungus-ridding diet to maybe help my skin, but at the same time, I’m kind of afraid to. At any rate, I really want to wear shorts again in 2013 and beat my record from last year!! I hate being embarrassed by my legs. You think yours are too fat/thin/pale/hairy? Try having yours covered with scratches and scabs because they itch so bad you can’t stop yourself and they’re already heavily covered with tiny scars, and they look so terrible that you can’t wear shorts even on 90 degree days! This is the real reason behind this goal for me. If your legs are smooth and your skin is even, I’m jealous of you right now, and I hope you love your legs just the way they are!
Well, conventional ideas aren’t working so well, so I’m attempting some other ideas now. I found some pretty fake nails and put them on so that I can’t scratch my skin. I’m also considering a new diet that focuses on getting fungus out of the system, like mushrooms, cheeses, milk, breads, etc. It’ll be hard to do…but even if I can just follow it halfway, it’s sure to help. Apparently what I have could be ecsema caused by poor circulation, and sensitive skin that can’t handle chafing (workpants stink!) and/or I have too much fungus in my system. So here’s to new methods!
I was finally able to wear shorts, without shame, without doubt, without itching, on Memorial Day. For the first time in a very, very very long time, I feel good about my legs!! (Especially having them fully shaved…it’s a real novelty that I hope I’ll get to get used to again!) Maybe by the end of this month, I’ll be able to wear a swimsuit without fear!! I’m pretty darn happy!
I’m pretty darn happy with them right now, actually! Just a few places that bother me, and I ‘ll be ready to wear shorts again, this time for real!! I’m hoping and praying that I’m finally going to be able to put this long battle to rest (and yes—not drinking milk REALLY seems to have helped a lot, amazingly!) and be able to have gorgeous legs all the time. Cheers!
I started using organic stuff and drinking a lot more water…and my legs aren’t doing half bad! I bought a pair of adorable shorts that are more like a skirt and I’m excited to wear them! The perfect incentive :)
I definitely can’t use a razor on my legs anymore, at all! They itch so badly the day after for some reason, new razor, Venus razor, or no. I can touch up here and there but that’s it! How irritating! Yeah, well, Veet is cheaper than some razors and lasts longer anyway lol.
I defuzzed yesterday and wore a short-ish skirt in honor of the extra warm weather! It took a while and was annoying lol but it felt soooo good and looked pretty good (very pale) and I greatly enjoyed myself!! My fiance was the only other person (besides you guys) who understood just how deliciously happy I was with this accomplishment!! Now comes the real challenge: keeping them this good…I’ve got a huge wedding and pool party in two months and I want to look my best!
