My husband and I are starting a new business in a town an hour and 15 minutes away. It means one of us will have to rent an apartment or find some other way to live because daily commutes would be counterproductive.
We found a piece of commercial property on the main drag just two blocks away from where our new business will be.
It was only $53,000 and includes a two-bedroom house with a large shop/storage facility attached.
The problem: It’s a piece of trash and needs a major overhaul. Plus, the foundation is settling funny.
We have begun work on this house. My husband has rewired the house. I have painted the main bedroom and caulked all the windows and done other repairs. I sewed curtains for the kitchen.
We need to remove trees, replace siding and clean out and build shelving for stock in the warehouse.
