learn to sew

I used to want to be able to create brand new original outfits, but now I want to just know the basics. I want to be able to hem pants. I want to be able to do simple mending. I want to be able to eventually tailor my own clothing. That sounds like a lot of work, but it would be nice to be able to do that for my family.

I went to my parents’ on Monday and my mom taught me how to use her old sewing machine. I need to find some basic things I can make. Suggestions are welcome!

On Monday I am meeting with my mom to learn some sewing basics. I am SEW excited!

Last week I hassled my mom about teaching me how to sew. She gave me her old beast of a machine when I got married. She said that I need to bring with the sewing machine, it’s instruction manual, and some scraps of fabric. I found it all in my art room yesterday. I am set! I’m really excited. I’m hoping to eventually sew some cushions for our picture window’s bench. How hard can that be? I sewed some pillows in Home Ec back in seventh grade.
