Getting closer...

Wow, I’m doing this the slow way.

Anyway, I’ve completed all my in-class driver’s ed and I’ll be starting this in-car stuff very soon. 10 hours of that and I’ll be ready(?) to take my test!

Finally started...

Well, it’s been a year since my last entry… I finally got my beginner’s license (again) on my birthday in September! So here we go, a year to figure out this driving thing and then roat test time!

I guess it's about time.

When I was 18 I got my beginner’s but I never actually learned to drive partially because I was afraid of driving (a LOT of my friends were involved in really serious car accidents in highschool) and partially because my dad kept discouraging me for some reason. Just because HE didn’t get his license until he was 25, there’s no reason for ME to get mine any sooner than that… or something.

Anyway, I just never really needed a license when I went to university because I had a bus pass so I never made an effort to learn to drive apart from a few lessons I took from my cousin one summer when I was 22 or 23. Then my beginner’s expired shortly after that.

Now that I’m getting older, reliance on public transportation and/or my MOM or, worse yet, my YOUNGER SIBLINGS to drive me around is getting a little tiresome and, frankly, embarassing.

But the real kick in the pants for me was a couple months ago when I was trying to arrange a ride to Montreal to see a show (Islands + Broken Social Scene!!!) and my ride fell through. I moped around about it until my mother said “you know, if you had your driver’s license I could have let you borrow the car.” DAMN!
