Sometimes everything seems to be joined together. It is difficult for me to attack this goal until I accomplish another—learning more about computers. In an ideal world I would just take a hammer to my old 3.5s. But in RL I can’t do it sight unseen. Will I need the data someday or are there pictures that bring back wonderful memories…in either case, a blind disposal/destruction is not possible.
I was once impressed by a gentleman who told me if he had not opened a box in over a year he just took it out to the curb for the garbagemen without opening it, because he obviously didn’t need it—such fortitude of will or perhaps just a lack of curiosity. I am not like that.
So, floppies…I have a CD burner, I could always burn the info on CDs and trash the floppies right? That would reduce space. Well, one small problem with that—my CD burner is giving me an error message, so as I said, I must learn more about computers before going that route. Stupid that I buy a computer with all of the bells and whistles (okay, now a few years old) and then never use half of the bells or whistles.
I know! It just came to me! I could get a flash drive and then save them all onto that! That would actually work. I could really manage to accomplish this goal—well, it may need to be after the holidays with family visiting and the house cleaning that needs to be done to prepare for that…but still, it is within reach. Cool. That would free up a desk drawer for other things. Next task may be moving on to getting rid of my old cassette tapes. Okay, better start one task at a time.
