stop procrastinating

Finally went and visited my grandma today. I don’t go to see her often enough like I should…

Kinda just dropped in unannounced, but I think she was happy for it. :3 I’m glad I could help make her day. Especially when she’s been having a hard time health-wise.

Love you, Grandma! Take care of yourself, you silly old thing.

Was fully intending to do my homework this weekend. Really.

I have a 12+ page paper due tomorrow that I’ve done hardly any research for, for my Tolkien class. I then have a 7+ page paper due Thursday for Intro to Literature along with a final project for Creative Writing. Both also not started.

I don’t want pity, no-no, I brought it on myself. I just wish I would stop… I wish I could be at home working on them…

We haven’t had many assignments yet this year for homework, and what we have had…

I’ve done it all right away! :D

Photography Foundations is kind of difficult, because so far it’s only been, “Take photos of moving shit,” and all I really came up with was cars and my puppies. xD I mean, where’d all the damn bikers and runners go?!

I’d feel creepy taking their picture anyway…

For the first time I put off doing something for our school newspaper. Typically I get my crap done ASAP so I can just chill for the rest of the time until our next assignment. This time… I intentionally did not go to something that would have helped me get this article written and finished by last Friday, the day after it was assigned to me.

What is my problem? /headdesk

This is one of those, “If I had a time machine…” moments.

I have a paper (only two pages, something really simple) that’s not due tomorrow, but we have to go to a… ‘writer’s workshop’ kinda thing to get it looked over first, and I signed up for tomorrow. I haven’t started it yet.

I just… can’t motivate myself. I like to write, don’t get me wrong, but not this kind of stuff. It’s boring. And homework.

So I’m sorry, goal, but you are definitely not going to be ‘finished’ anytime soon.

We had a guest speaker in class… yesterday?

She was telling us about how to judge our characteristics and what-not, and we got on the subject of procrastination.

People who procrastinate can be looked down upon, but more often than not we also thrive under pressure and churn out better product than we do by getting it done early.

I myself feel this way. This doesn’t mean I’m going to quit my goal, however.

But I do thrive under pressure… in some things. If I do some of my work early I dwell on it until the day it’s due, which by then I simply tell myself, “Well, too late now.” I don’t feel it’s good enough, and then I get it back and see that I certainly could have done much better.

So sometimes putting things off can actually be a good thing. But not often. It’s still a not so good habit.

For once…

I have none.

I’ve been succeeding in my side goal to this goal to get it done as I get it, and am very proud of myself.

I’ve got all the available books for college purchased! And I’ve filled out all the loan applications I needed to, and am still filling out scholarships. Of course, I still kind of put it all off a day or two, but the fact that I got it done this week at all is an improvement.

Now hopefully work will go just as smooth tonight and I’ll get a sub. and a pre-order!

I finished that scavenger hunt! :D Got all my pictures and am ready to upload them. I just don’t want to do them all today because…

1. I’m a procrastinator. :P

And 2. I don’t want to spam everyone on there with my amateur pictures.

So. :D

Not sure how many people know of it, but there little scavenger hunts you can do here on 43T. My friend told me about it and now I’m solidly hooked. So far, out of the 43 photos you need to take, I’ve taken… twenty! Just shy of half! Or, as half-y as you can get with an odd number. Considering it’s only the 4th of the month, I’m proud of myself. :)
