Ok – the weekends are messing up my programme! Party on Friday night and out late again on Saturday – still got up quite early (8.30am ish). Got to sleep around 12.30am last night. I need to get back into the ‘early to bed’ habit – am feeling tired and it showed this morning – alarm went off at 7am but got up at 7.30am, which is now late for me. Aim to be in bed by 10pm tonight – asleep by 10.30 would be great. Need my full eight hours!

Am getting better – woke at 6am this morning (had intended 6.45am). Still wanted a little more sleep but got up anyway. Am making my smoothies/cleansing cocktail/lunch etc but could do more with this time, so once I am routinely getting up before 6.30am , need to plan/know/decide what to do, and create the physical space for it, which is an issue. One great effect tho’ – I am now regularly preparing to go to bed by 10pm – actually wanting to be in bed! As someone who was habitually wide awake at 1am (and watching Star Trek Voyager on Sky One) this is massive progress.
Am improving, although I am just ‘waking up’ and then deciding to get out of bed rather than getting up when the alarm goes off, but I should give myself credit for that as well. Yesterday I woke up at 5.50am – a disgraceful waste of nighttime, if you ask me, but I got up, made my smoothie, drank my cleansing cocktail, cooked up a delish spanish tortilla to take to work for lunch and got to work early. This morning, got up around 7.15am, so; given that yesterday was an aberration, am getting progressively earlier, which is grand.
I am supposed to be at work at 9.30am yet for most of last year could still be found in bed at 8.45am, convinced that I could be out of the house by 9.10am and that it only takes 20 minutes to drive to work.I was invariably 10-15 minutes late; arriving tired and already stressed. Appalling and ridiculous. Now I take my niece to school and am committed to getting her there on time, which I do, so I now get to work EARLY, which is good, but not enough. I need more time for me; to eat a proper breakfast, to plan my day, organise myself, to meditate, to do some exercise, to prepare a healthy lunch/dinner, to make some juice or a smoothie, floss my teeth, clear the rubbish out of my bag etc etc; all the things that would make my day better. For the last week or so I’ve been ‘practising’ going to bed earlier and setting my alarm for 7.30am (this is a big step for me, honest) and being out of bed by 7.45am; I still can’t get to sleep without a bit of herbal assistance (nytol herbal, not anything illegal(anymore; have given that up along with the fags)). This morning, I woke up at 6am, and decided, like a morning person would, to get up, instead of bemoaning that I couldn’t get back to sleep. I made a cup of green tea, fed the cats, read 4 chapters of a new book, made a big Sunday dinner casserole and did the washing, all by 9am. Was very proud of myself. Hopefully this means I will be tired tonight and able to get to sleep before 1am, which is the real problem! I have read that regularising the time I get up will help with that. Eventually, would like to get up at 6.30am every day and feel fantastic.
