I participated in NaNoWriMo this year and was able to complete the challenge of 50,000 words in 30 days—my final word count on the site is 50,002, haha. The manuscript is unfinished plot-wise and needs a whole lot of TLC, but it’s a good start.

I started writing a couple different stories a while back, but dropped them. Looking back, I’m glad I did, because they were horrible compared to what I feel I’m capable of now.
I’m thinking I may start by writing some short stories or something… just so I can get my feet wet before I commit to writing a “long” book.
