Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

Can You Ever Really Be Done With This Goal?

Because no matter how much more I take care of myself, I feel I can always do better. I’ve learned through therapy that taking care of yourself is the most important thing, and that’s been difficult for me because I’m the type of person who always puts others before myself.
But I’m doing better! I mean, if you don’t take good care of yourself, how could you ever care for someone else, right?
Well, I’ve been trying to eat more, but eat healthy. I’m drinking more…not always water, but things like Fuze drinks, Gatorade and Chocolate Milk. I’m eating more fruit, yogurt, and all that good stuff. I’ve been getting more sleep, and keeping myself and my mind busy. :) Plus, most importantly…I’m letting myself go and have more fun. Taking the philosophy “You only live once”, but making sure I do it in a healthy way of course. That’s good, eh?
So, although this goal isn’t done, its definitely on its way.

This is #1

on my list of things I really need to do; for a number of reasons.
1) I’m going to be starting nursing school in the fall, and they say the one of the best ways to prepare yourself for that is by taking better care of yourself.
2) Things like sleeping, eating, etc. all effect my mood and can work with my meds to help my depression.
3) I need the exercise to help my asthma.

I’m off to a good start!
- I’ve cut soda out of my diet. I’m trying to limit myself to one cup of coffee a day, in the morning.
- Starting to drink more water.
- I joined Curves with my mom and so I’ll be exercising/working out 3 times a week.
- Started taking calcium and vitamins again; tyring to remember to take my asthma medication twice a day.
- Been trying to get to sleep by 11:30 so I get as close to 8 hours of sleep as I can.
- Trying to eat better by having around 6 small meals a day.
- Doing my best to keep myself busy…stop being a lump and try to keep my mind working with projects and such. The less idle time for me, the better.
- Showering more and being very conscious of my personal hygiene! Washing my hands more and carrying around anti-bacterial stuff.

I really want to stick with this and really work hard on it. I know it will do wonders for me in many ways.
