sing more

My boyfriend bought recording equipment for his band…so now he’s working on that.
Soooo, I decided that for my mom for Christmas I’m going to record myself playing the keyboard and singing…doing some of her faves. It’s going to be awesome!!!
I really have been singing more…I’ve even getting more comfortable singing around other people, so I think that’s a big step!!! YAY!
You should hear me in the car, I’m a frickin’ DIVA!

Ok, so I’ve been singing my whole life. I even was a voice major in college for all of a year. I’ve been in everything from my high school and church choir to the NJ All-State choir. I’m not nervous singing in front of anyone, except: My FAMILY.
Why? Probably because their criticism means more than anyone else’s. And none of them are trained singers so they can’t even really critque me, but its just that singing is my thing, for me.
That’s why I left music school. Music is my personal therapy. It is something I do, and want to do for myself. I want to sing and play (I’ve played piano since I was 6) what I want to, when I want to, etc. I have a baby grand at my house, but I only sing when no one is home, and I feel fanTASTIC when I sing. I do a lot of it in the car. I get made fun of because my favorite musical genre is hard rock/metal…but then I listen to stuff that I can actually sing to, and they just don’t understand that I listen to it because in the car, etc. I just want to be singing.
I feel so good about it and I want to do it more.
Just because I left school doesn’t mean I don’t want to keep singing and improving. I’m really great friends with my high school choir instructor, who was also my private teacher, so I’m hoping I can get together with her here and there to get some new songs and keep learning.
I recently moved out of the house, but brought along my electric piano. I’ve made it a goal to plug that thing in and sing more, and in front of people…including Bob (my b/f) and his family (I’m living with them).
I can do this. I will. :)
