Richard bought the final paving slabs we needed to finish the little front section by the door for my birthday. He put down the closest ones this afternoon and it looks fab. Much improved :)
The little cottage garden has begun to bloom so it looks far more presentable. The winter jasmine is getting out of hand and really needs to be tamed or dealt with in some way. Whichever month we pick to focus on that whole job it’s going to transform the cottage.

The first bed is now raised and I’ve put in a few plants – two fushias (from Cornwall) and a lavender. I’ve worked out how to do the most tricksy of the three beds too. So work on that could begin soon. The one I’ve just finished looks fab. Better than I ever imagined! I can’t wait to settle more plants in there and watch it bloom and develop. So satisfying.

Over Christmas I’ve come up with a sneaky idea that makes this more acheiveable in the short term.
I’m going to look into using containers to raise up the beds rather than building from scratch. If I can only afford cheap plastic boxes I could always hide them with wooden fronting of some sort.
I can see it looking really good in my minds eye and it would be a fabulous lift to my little cottage to be proud of its outside again.
