great thing about depression is EVERYTHING goes. You harbor no attachments. the benefits of being blue.

I am purging and getting rid of excess materialistic things at an unbelievable rate. Last week it was 6 huge garbage bags of clothes to the battered womans shelter—a lot of it was brand new unworn stuff I bought when I needed a sense of fulfillment. How sad.
Then over the weekend, Vietnam Vets came and hauled off 4 more large bins, 2 bicycles that my kdis outgrew and all the kitchen stuff I had purged. Someone asked me why didnt I just have a yard sale…because I need it gone NOW. Why should I benefit financially if someone else truly needs it?
Today I will attempt to tackle my sons room.

and I just recently blogged about this. I wish I could be like the Chinese when they de-clutter their entire home before celebrating the Chinese New Year. The sweep every corner and toss everything out that is remnants of the past year—things that harbor bad luck, and in cleaning their entire home, they make way for the good luck to come into their lives.
I think there comes a point when you start complaining about having too much laundry to do, too many books to place back on the shelves, toys to pick up—-and that’s when you have to STOP and say…”I must simplify my life”. Maybe I am a packrat. I can’t let things “go”. I hold onto every painting from my 6yo daughter, dried flowers from a bouquet that I received as a Valentines present. When do things stop being part of “me” and need to be purged? Someone help me to let go and minimalize my life.
