My girlfriend and I have long said that once we have a house together (closing in July), we’ll start looking to get a boxer puppy. But the reality is that we both work quite a bit and I’m not sure how a puppy will do in that environment while we’re away. Considering that it’ll take a lot of time and effort to train the pup, I’m trying to convince her that maybe our first dog should be a young adult, already trained, from a local boxer rescue. I think she’s getting warmed up to the idea. We both love the idea of having a puppy around, but there’s also something very satisfying about taking a loving dog from a shelter and giving it a new opportunity in a new home. Of course, once we know we can handle it, THEN maybe we could get our puppy!
