3 times a week? HA! I’m doing this DAILY now.
Total 360. I went from hitting the snooze button and saying “I’ll start this next week (for MONTHS…nearly a year)” to waking up before my alarm goes off and, never thought I’d say it, LOOKING FORWARD TO doing this.
I think what motivated me to finally tackle an exercise routine was my accidental weight loss through completing another goal on my list, Eat Healthier. Weight loss was not at all my goal, but a welcomed result. After losing 10 lbs by taking really small steps with my diet, I starting thinking about how I could take small steps to tone up my body.
I started running (more of a jog/waddle… a joddle?) every morning for about 20 minutes. I take my time. Set little goals for myself. It’s nothing huge, but it’s doable. I think that’s the key. When I’ve tried to do this in the past I had unrealistic goals like “Lose 30 lbs” or “get abs”. My goal is just to get in shape – be healthy, but I’ll welcome any added bonuses.
I’m hoping that after a couple months of doing this, I’ll be able to start adding calisthenics to my routine to switch it up a couple days a week. Right now, after my run, I’m wiped and barely have the energy to shower! I’m sure that’ll change in time.
I’m proud of myself. If I can keep this up for a year, I’ll take it off my list.

There’s really no good excuse, but I haven’t even come close to completing this goal. I’m proud of myself, however, for taking tiny steps towards getting more exercise. When I go home, I take an express train that drops me off one stop away from the one that is closest to our apartment and walk back. I also always take the stairs and I’m finding myself slightly less winded when I do. When I go to my classes at NYU on the weekend, I powerwalk to the train.
I think that these small steps will eventually help me formulate a routine. I’m also contemplating a gym membership at Lucille Roberts after I’m through with the bulk of my classes this semester (working full time and going to school is a time-suck!)

Anyone else?
Is anyone else having a hard time doing this task because of their work schedule??? No wonder everyone in my office is out of shape. I think I need to start forcing myself out of bed very early in the morning, but I’m worried that I’ll be useless at work…. how long does it take your body to adjust to a change like that?
I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE EASY!!!!! Grrrrrrr

The excerise (walking for 30 minutes in the AM) will boost my energy and I can start appreciating this lovely little neighborhood I live in.
