get out of debt

So the wife and I are taking the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University. We only have our student loans left for our debt (and a house, but a mortgage doesn’t count.)

We’ll pay off our student loans, then save 3-6 months of expenses, then adopt.

So we’re not yet out of debt, but we have taken a major step toward eliminating it. Stop incurring debt.

We’re buying a used truck this week, but we’re paying in cash. Not a single bit of it will be financed. We’ve been saving up for months and months, and will save several thousand dollars simply by paying in cash, and not interest from financing.

My wife and I paid off our car last month. It took just over three years. We received the title in the mail. It’s a good day.

Now to pay off student loans and the house.
