I was out skiing at Icicle River and as I got over the bridge, I saw these two people apparently walking out on the ice. I thought they were being quite dangerous, but as I skiied near the river, I saw that it had actually been groomed by the machine. This area where it was groomed is just above a dam, so the water freezes over there every year.
I thought that if one of those heavy machine groomers had gone over the ice without falling in that the ice would probably hold me up too. So I skiied around some more and found where the groomer had gone down to the water. I skiied down and went almost all around, but an upriver section looked kindy sketchy so I turned back before that. I’m glad I didn’t chicken out, but this whole experience felt quite risky.
