It took me almost 2 years and 4 months to give 10,000 cheers. I had to print screen this to have a record of the first time I gave my 10,000th cheer because if anyone deletes their account I might have to give it again.
Cheering is one of the things I like the most about 43 Things, but I do feel kind of mixed about it. I like it because it’s a quick way to express interest in what someone wrote or to show support for what they’re working on. I often find myself reading stuff on other forums and blogs looking for that “cheer” button and not finding it but wishing it was there. I also find cheering convenient because I feel uncomfortable leaving comments unless I can contribute something original or meaningful to the discussion, or sometimes someone else can just say something a lot better than I can but I still want to express support. Maybe, though, I’ll make an effort to write more comments because it is more personal. I will say that I don’t cheer anything unless I’ve first read it and understood it.
Anyway, though she hasn’t been around much recently I gave my 10,000th cheer to melissa... just because… :)
