"Fever", Peggy Lee style...

Got the bass sorted, working on singing and playing it – I think that would be great – need a good drummer too tho’. :-)

Blue Daniel

Played lots of ways, but here’s one – actually, the tune makes a great bass solo – as long as the rest of the band aren’t playing at break-neck pace.
A good result for 40 mins practice…

Checklist here of stuff I've done...

I need to start up a performer’s CV and repertoire checklist if I’m going to get into the kind of bands I’m now thinking of, so this will be a good start to document put from

“Tonight’s the night” – Queen

“Typewriters” – Comedic orchestral…(Leroy Anderson)

“The Flood”, “Rule the world” and “Hold Up a Light” (Take That)

A very fruity version of Watermelon Man (Herbie Hancock)...

...performed this afternoon after 45 mins rehearsal. A great bit of arrangement, on something we only decided to play on the spur of the moment, but it just goes to show how much hinges on you as the bass player. I’d got the form in my head (it’s pretty simple-

However, for some reason as a result of the short notice of the practice & prep, I picked up a mental block about the last 2 bars and played as though I was at the start of the first 4 bars, thus dumping 2 bars of the form in each solo. Aarghhhh…

Tribute to the rest of the band for keeping in line, but
Deep embarrassment about how much the bass player can drive the band anywhere he wants…

Lesson Learned.

Improvisations on "Yes Sir, That's my Baby"...

working with Martin Hathaway & others..,

Last night, performed...

East of the Sun, West of the Moon (Diana Krall), and
Someone to watch over me (George & Ira Gershwin), which was bliss, working hard to create the space for the vocalist to create the final magic.

Tonight's the night... Queen

and I can’t find a track recording….

Don't stop me now... Queen

Fantastic driving bass line coming in as Freddie gets to the end of his intro….

The world in union

Rugby World Cup Theme
Great growling bass line the way we play it… not that I can find anything here that represents our choral output! LOL
