I’m considering this complete. I’ve been reading since I was 4 and will always continue to do so. My red reading journal has more than 600 titles listed.
DayDreamer37 has written 9 entries about this goal
Just opened this back up again to write an entry. This goal does make me feel good, but not sure if I should put it back on the curren list again. I’ll leave it on the list and see how I feel the next time I review those goals.
A little voice inside of me said to change the name to “Study the work of great AA romance authors”. Okay, that’s what I’ll do. This decade I’m following the advice of the little voice.
I’m not giving up on this, but I’m putting it here for now. First things first. Let me devote 2 hours a day to writing romance for a year, let it become a habit, then I’m gold!!!
Again the theme of today and I’ve probably written 6 or 7 posts on this is that this will take no extraordinary EFFORT on my part, I KNOW how to write a novel. Here are my credentials
—BA in journalism
—dozens of short stories written; several sold
—member of several writers groups
—have read probably over 1000 novels by now…
—wrote and published Again and Again, recieved adequate reviews
—took 2 or 3 writing classes with Donna Hill
—read plot at least 2 times
—currently writing like my 3rd novel this time with co-writer
—have been collecting phrases for 2 years and 8 months in “LYM’s Phrase Book”
—have written hundreds and hundreds of blogs, articles, profiles ect.
All of that took extraordinary effort, most of it quite pleasureable but effort nevertheless. I know plot and character, and good quotes. I know how to write, it’s a matter of devoting 2 hours a day to writing romance and I could write 2 books a year!
I’ve written severa
I’m working on RTL very, very slowly. A paragraph at a time and not everyday.
I’m going to meet with my writing partner on Thursday to discuss a character he’s having trouble writing.
Got right up today—after doing all of my “first things first” stuff and started reading my Conflict, Action and Suspence book. I’ll make sure I get to page 30 by the end of the day.
As for RTL, I have to get the heroine onto the cruise ship. With TOL I have to introduce the heroine to the homeless woman who is going to move in with her.
I have to prepare my confession for submission soon. I said tomorrow, but I may put it off for a few days.
Right after I put my daughter on the bus today I got right on here and worked on TOL and RTL. I moved them forward a little. I want to do this every day, or at least as many days as possible. I put the column on the back burner for once and made this work the priority.
Today I will read up to page 25 in my conflict book. Tomorrow night is my meeting with my writing partner. So I’ll spend the day reflecting on our story.
Also I’m reading Girl with the Golden Shoes and a Slipping Down Life. Reading is the best way to learn about writing.
Today for this goal, I spent some time this morning reading the section of a novel I’m writing with a partner. The Heroine’s part. I’m going to start brainstorming connections and I still need to think of a chapter 3.
I haven’t touched RTL in a long time. But I’m keeping in mind that romance is not the priority. The column, the writing I do best, it the priority.
