get a part-time job

I have to admit I enjoy the process. It’s the only time I ever get to meet new people as I’m not really into other kinds of networking.

I had plans to go a few weeks ago, so I finally made it. I’m getting that “bug” again, but this time I’m going to be very, very selective. Well not not VERY, VERY, but selective nevertheless.

I’m going to WC, WF1 and RC in September. I’ll probably do my volunteering on Monday, then go do the job search on Tuesday, then focus on BLL on Wednesday and TN on Thursday or something like that.

Because the timing is not right. If I took it I’d interrupt my son’s summer schedule which include golf lessons next month. I’d have to send him to day care since the day camps have been booked since May. For a 12 year old that would have been mortifying.

I think this is the first time I’ve ever turned down an interview. Once I tried and then they convinced me to come in—this was when the economy was much better.

Besides I’m in a groove with making money with TN. It’s a pittance, but I can do it from home, I’m honing a valuable skill, I’m meeting great people and the work is fulfilling. I remember I resisted working for TN, now I’m glad that I’m there.

This stays on the list as I will continue to look for a PT job in the fall. I should be able to get one no later than February and then I can decide on camps etc for the kids.

This morning I was thinking of all the part-time jobs that I’ve had over the last 10 years

7 part-time jobs when I was at my most stressed from 2001-2011

Now if there was ever a doubt that I can’t get one, this is proof that I can. And I can do it again. And I WANT to do it again, and I want it to be someething that makes me feel joyful, not vulnerable.

I’m ressurrecting this goal—again!

Well, I did it again. I have the pt job I’ve wanted. The commute is fine, the hours are exactly what I wanted and the work is interesting. So now I can relax—accept of course when I’m on the job!

I’m moving forward with this goal. I’d say it’s my most active. I went to DOL two days ago to meet with a job developer and I responded to a lead he gave me. He also faxed my resume to some places as well. I’m also getting my interview and work clothes together and my references. a little at a time each week.

I wrote two weeks ago that I was on edge about this, but I’m not anymore. I’m going to start going to temp agencies next week after my class finishes and I won’t take a job unless it’s the right job. It will be a job where I feel comfortable, or am confident that I will feel confident after all of the newness wears off. My guess is that within a month, the newness will hae worn off any pt job that I land.

Also I feel better about leaving work at 2 pm and getting home in time to pick up the children. That is plenty of time. I wasn’t sure before but since I’ve done it 9 times in the last month, I’m confident.
