My iPod is now a tool! 22 months ago

I have been successfully using my iPod Touch as a tool. I have the smallest least expensive one.

The ability to add calendar items on the fly take notes has turned an audio tool (for books and scrubbing through audio files that I am taking home) into a useful PDA like device.

The joy of an iPod Touch- if it works is... 2 years ago

That is syncs with my calendar program. This will be the first quarter that I will have my syllabi entered into my calendar program, and the idea is that it should help me complete my assignments with a little more foresight.

Now if I only had a working iPod Touch.

I live my life with a great deal of technology, but I still try to simplify. I use technology to get over what ever disabilities I have to deal with. I listen to a few dozen audio books a year. I have an iPod shuffle, but it just isn’t great for navigating indexed books. What I want is an iPod Touch. I think I can justify a new iPod, especially if it can surf the internet and navigate indexed books and sync with my contacts and calender. This elevates the want from a toy to a tool.

I am steadely working twords this. 2 years ago

The university that I am going to uses an online portal that has a calender on it. My work has 2 calenders, my computer one, and my phone one. There are too many calenders in my life.

I am tempted to use just the one on my computer, and perhaps my phone. Actually, I am more than tempted. I think that will have to be the way it is done.

Tomorrow, I will make and print labels for the “big picture” calendar at work. (My printing is awful and I don’t think I should ask my admin. assistant fill in 3 months of class schedule on the big calender.

This is a little bizarre, but the calendar on my phone is working as a tool for short term personal tasks. 2 years ago

For short term personal appointments I find my phones calendar a good tool. This keeps me from flipping my laptop open for every appointment. It’s awkward to use, but it is working for me.

This is going better. 2 years ago

I am using this to help remind me of short term goals. Perhaps I will get my life organized around my calendar.

Some would say that this isn’t a good goal, but for me, it looks like the only way I will actually remember all of the thongs that I need or want to do.

Today, I set iCal to remind me about 3 goals that I need to revisit before I go to sleep.

I just added 43things events to my iCal. 2 years ago

I have set events to remind me to update my progress on the following areas with in my 43things.

Sundays- Creative Goals
Mondays- Health
Tuesdays- Education and meta goal updates.
Fridays- Organization

1st, 7th, 15th, and 20th of each month- Finances

That covers all of the major goal areas.

I chose the dates to update my progress on my financial goals for a reason. They fall on the day, or just before major payments are due.

I am going to add all of my recent work dates tomorrow.

1- Buy iCal for dummies. 2 years ago

I am walking down to the used book store right now. If not, I will try Amazon.com.
