I gave away a new, in the box, cycling computer to a friend that is starting to cycle more often. It’s better that they use something that they could not easily afford, and will use well for a while. I was planning on donating it, as I don’t cycle any more.
I gave away some garden supplies, after growing various mints in them. I have wonderful friends who need, from time to time, to know how I feel about them. I dropped off the plants, in planters, on their new patio. It took them a week to figure out who they were from, and I like that they figured it out. I am also happy that I didn’t give them a white-elephant.
I donated labels, paper, not books, and some folders to my work (which is an NPO).

I totaled my truck. I know at minimum the cost to repair it was at least $1,500- which is more than the car is worth. Rather than waste time, money, and energy on deciding if it can be fixed, I sent it to be recycled. I feel guilty about this, but I also feel a little lighter. In the past year I purchased new hoses, redid the electrical system, and purchased a new water pump. I know that the breaks and differential needed replaced. The transmission was seized after the accident and I broke at least one tie rod (perhaps that’s what caused me to loose control). It was a 26 year-old truck. It was a good chariot and I miss it.
I need more exercise and riding the bus is a great place to study and listen to books.

I keep getting rid of things. Most things are given away to the thrift store next to my work. I still have too much stuff. I am not going to count this goal as done, until I get rid of things to particular individuals.
I finally have a bin of stuff to go to particular friends and family. Now it’s just a matter of taking the time to give the things away.

I am divesting myself of a number of books. I am donating them to a local NPO that has a big book sale fund-raiser.
To the thrift store, various electronic goods.
Via CraigsList a phone adapter and battery for the phone I lost. Or perhaps that will go to the thrift store. I just think those things will end up getting tossed in a bin for wall-worts and phones that eventually end up at the recycling center with out benefitting anybody.

Actually, I got rid of 1 book shelf as I made one. While this is not shooting for 1 thing in 2 things out, it does get rid of something that was large and not useful to me.
I have another empty book shelf now, and I am debating if I should donate it to a friend or a thrift-store that benefits the homeless.
I wasn’t sure if the bookshelf that I did donate was worth anything. I paid $25 dollars for it used. After 5 or 6 years it still had 1/2 of it’s value. This surprised me.

I was wondering through an antique store that is going out of business. I noticed that they had a telescope missing an eyepiece. They really couldn’t sell the thing with out one, even at the price that they were offering. I offered them an eyepiece and an image erector. They gave me a discount on something that I was looking at. It wasn’t what I was shooting for, but it was nice.

To fill my pickup bed with boxes to go to the thrift store.
I have filled a box with items that I want to give to friends.
This will help honor my stuff and clear my porch.

I have stuff set aside, but I haven’t given it to the people that need it.
Humm… how to get this done.
I will post a list of stuff and where it is going.

I tried to give away a good computer, an iMac to a woman who had one of the original Bondi Blue ones. She can’t update the firmware and it can’t browse the internet. Best intentions aside, the person thought about it for a week and decided that it was too much trouble to transfer the information and dispose of her old machine.
Plan 2: Keep it at work and turn it into a work station for the volunteers to use. So I will look for a keyboard, a mouse, and a stand.
