make a zine

It just went on hiatus for a while. I dropped the class that I was going to use as the basis for the zine. I have too many of these projects.

In claiming my edcuation , I am dedicating myself to finishing the first part of my formal learning. As part of this I have three classes that I am taking this summer. They include non-fiction writing, journaling, and learning and cognition. I can combine the essays that I am writing for these classes and turn them into part of an art piece. I will make a zine composed of essays from these classes as well as textual art.

If I can manage it, my first zine will combine the essays that I am writing for a non-fiction class. The zine will be about dyslexia, and stylistically, it should be interesting.

Even though this differs from my first zine idea, I know that I can get this one done. After that, I can worry about creating another zine.

I also am rethinking the size of it. I am thinking of making it out of folded paper, instead of using card stock. This is all the more zine like.

I have decided on a title, “How Not To Graduate.” It is also the subject matter. In some sense I think that I need to exorcise and come to terms with the ghosts of those things that delayed me from finishing the first part of my formal education.

My friends know some of me, but would enjoy seeing random glimpses to a past that they know little about.

I don’t plan a rambling of memories, but rather an instruction book on everything from building a still to how to be a “Tree Pig”. I am not sure how I am going to do the illustrations.

I love zines. I like to write. Why not add to two together. My goal is to make a zine and use it to get others to do the same. The others will be my friends.

My first goal is this one, make a zine. My second goal is to use it as leverage with my friends and assemble a set of zines that each one of us have created. Most of my friends are artists and/or writers in one way or another. All were jazzed about it. But they were also jazzed about the cult , and then never showed up past the first meeting. So perhaps this will work.
