Sure, if you meet a bunch of people, each only briefly, it can be hard to remember their names, especially if you don’t get a chance to see them again for a few days or more.
But I think my problem is a little worse than that.
Sometimes people will say “hi” to me, and I have to stop and wonder for a while whether the look familiar or not. It’s not just people I might have known when we were kids, who see me again in the old neighborhood after years away, or people I may have seen briefly in my job. I also have the problem when watching movies. A character will show up in the first scene, then go away for a while and return later in the movie, and his different clothes or the lighting will totally throw me off. I gather that this isn’t a common problem, but I sometimes have to watch a movie twice before I get the whole cast straight.
