After reading someone else’s entry here I checked out this Ryze networking site. It looks like garbage. On the main page it says its free, but later when you get into it you find out that the networking will only be available for free for a limited number of days, a regular bait-and-switch. But the worst part of it is that when you want to look for people you know to network with they want you to give the e-mail addresses of people you know and it says that if they aren’t signed up they will be sent an e-mail asking them to join. You don’t get the option of doing the more polite thing and sticking only to those who have decided it was in their interests to join and not bothering people who may not want to. And they even have a check box for sending them reminders 3 days later if they haven’t joined. It is already checked by default of course.
Using that kind of web tool doesn’t look very profitable to me. Why risk annoying your valuable contacts by having them pestered by a sleazy bait-and-switch pay site when there are already plenty of ways to keep in touch with people you already know?
