find a cure for cancer

insatiable,and never ending.
It’s pull can be harder than the strongest will to live.
Today the famous Farrah Fawcett lost her life to it…… no amount of money or fame could save her…….and several weeks prior,someone very near and dear to me , though much lesser known, lost their personal battle with this merciless, and unforgiving demon.
It’s hand is hard and cold, and it leaves behind large raw and ragged holes in the hearts of those left behind.

It hurts to stand so close to it, and know there is nothing you can do.

Just the word “CANCER” can make some feel weak in the knees, and put fear in the bravest,...words you never want to hear your Doctor say, or a loved one queitly whisper.
The image is dark and frightening, not unlike what one as a child may envision the “Boogie Man” to be. Something out there lurking ,hiding in dark corners, waiting to strike when least expected . Hiding under your bed ,behind closed doors, robbing you of sleep, and contentment.
Unfortunatly , unlike the Boogieman, we know all too well how real this threat can be. It reaches it’s cold , hard hand out into the lives of countless families, regardless of age, race, country, and health, and pulls them deep into it’s blackness. I have held the hand of far too many loved ones in the short time I have lived , and seen the fear reflected in their eyes,and felt the pain of their hearts. There is no one it can not reach.
This is the real terror I believe we should be fighting ,where our money, our troops, and our government should be centered on, that along with Aids, world hunger, and countless other equally sad battles needing to be fought. These are the real threats, but ones for which I believe we can conquer ,if only we rally together to raise more money for research, give of our time, knowledge ,and hearts to those suffering today.
Perhaps you have been one of the fortunate few out there who have not had any of these worries come knocking on your door, count your blessings, for you are very lucky indeed. But no matter how bright the sun, there will always be shadows cast.
My hope is that one day we will no longer live with these fears , with today’s technology, and modern medical science, I believe a break through is always possible, and when it does, I hope I am there to see it through.
