Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Find My Still Point

37 cheers

Dharmagirl has written 4 entries about this goal

Sometimes things are so "Still",

that I begin to wonder if I am still breathing….then other times not so much.

Still

Away from the chatter of senses
From the restless wandering of the mind
There is a quiet pool of stillness.
The Wise call this stillness the highest state of being .
It is the place where we find unity.

Never to become separate again.

Katha Upanishad (5th century BCE)

Compose yourself in stillness
Draw your attention inward
And devote your consciousness to the Self.
For the wisdom you seek lies within.

Bhagavad Gita ( 6th century BCE)

Hmmm...

Perhaps I am simply moving to fast to ever accomplish this goal..( note to self)... slow down , apply the brakes, take out that pad of paper, and make note of all the wondrous beautiful things around me, breath deeply, and open my eyes wide…really wide. Reach deep down into the soul, and push that “Pause” button, ..if only for a moment , and remember who you “are”, and who you “want” to become.

Finding my still point...

Still point….. what exactly does that mean? I think it means different things for different people.
For me it means finding a sense of peace, a sense of calm. A place of inner balance where your spirit and your soul can meet in perfect harmony, in a low, sweet song.
The key is to be able to recognize the notes for what they are, and to follow it to your destined path.
And though the path may be long and narrow, and shrouded in brambles and heavy bush, what lies beyond will be well worth the up’s and downs it took to get there.
