The gates are closed,

the hinges all but rusted, thigh high weeds grow where once flowers flourished. I wander the over grown paths in my mourning clothes, damp dew gathering on it’s dark crêpe edges as it sweeps through my memories.. My grief is reflected in the water I pass, the reflection is unknown to me, the pain erasing my once familiar lines, and replacing them with something much harsher. The air hangs heavy and silent…. too silent. A wilted rose escapes from my hand, I can no longer pick it up.

It's hot out today in the garden,

really hot. Summer is hanging onto the closing of yet another season, like a lovers long embrace before being shipped far away, and Fall quietly slips in to take it’s place.

The bird bath you see has long been taken over by my Lab as her watering dish, and the four cats further ensure no birds will visit.

The Nicotiana continues to bloom, and brighten several corners that are beginning to show minute signs of being tired and worn out from the sun’s damaging rays.

And down by the pond the Trout and Bass are making circular ripples on the waters surface as they jostle each other for a bite to eat, while keeping an eye out for the many predators that hunt them daily, ( including several boys I know who are just dying to get them onto a fishing line, and into a net.) , meanwhile they share their space with a pair of visiting Wood ducks quite comfortably, who look like some exotic imports from the far Orient.

The crickets have changed the evenings air with their sinewy song , replacing the exuberant solicitation of the frogs courting calls, who are now getting prepared for their winters nap.

There’s a feel of change crouching around the corner, and the garden path is becoming littered with it’s yellow tinted leaves.

Do please step inside,

the rusted gates have been swung open, just let me brush off the dirt, and I’ll get you a cool glass of something refreshing, and we can be on our way to a little tour about my own back back yard. Just watch your step, and don’t mind the dogs, they’re pretty friendly, (it’s really the big black cat you have to watch out for).
The large rock you see in the photo flanked by foxglove, is one of the first things you see when you enter the my yard. It was placed there by me two years ago, and if you look closely you can see the little babies it has produced resting on top of it, though I must say it really hasn’t grown much in those two years…(perhaps for the best, being that I would have difficulty keeping up with that many pet rocks…what given the troubles I have been having with my imaginary friends as of late). The sun is just setting, so perhaps we should rest here a bit, and do some catching up. So how is the family doing anyway?

more photo installments to come as my computer technology skills grow…which basically means these post will be few and far between ;)
(This weeks post was brought to you by my “Gardening Techi Sponsor” {{{BeeQueen}}}, you are da best!)
