It seems this is key...

...to my feeling alive. I haven’t stepped out recently and I feel bored, unfulfilled… I need my fix.
What did I get myself into! I won’t stop until I touch the sky, it seems…
So be it. Imma fly like an eagle.

I'm through!!!

WOOLO WOOLO YELELE! WAYAYAY YES AYE!!! Sorry, a bit of creole celebration outburst there. Rehearsals starting this Sunday, show is in Colchester on 27-10-12 at 20:00. We’re doing this for a children’s charity. I’m happy Yay! :D

Theres a first time for everyting...

This was my first audition. Sang “ain’t no sunshine” by Bill Withers, then learned the test dance routine. I think I’m through but don’t really know yet…

Met an icon today...

Johnny Depp is a genius. What a great actor, versatile, masterful, especially in the pirates of the Caribbean series! Oh wait….......it appears to be a look alike. Oh well, good enough for me!

Is this getting out of hand?

2 days ago I went to town with J (“Razzle Dazzle”, whom I co-wrote “Greater Things” with) and we stumbled accross some acquantainces breakdancing in the streets. J joked about joining in. I said “Yeah why not?” thinking of the Friday before.
That day, we were running then I noticed there was Salsa music playing in a bar. J told me “Let’s go in and check it out”. I liked the idea, but thought about it and was going to decide against it until J said something along the lines of “What have you got to lose, we’re just checking it out”.
So we did. The peeps inside seemed even more nervous than we were. So it wasn’t that bad.
Back to Tuesday: To think too long about doing something becomes its undoing (I should know, I’m King procrastinator. I know all too well that over analysis turns into paralysis). I told J. The secret is JUST DO IT So we decided to join in. I did my thing, he did his.
Unbeknownst to me, 2 crucial people were watching. One was a restaurant/bar owner, the other is a friend from church (or Kingdom Hall as we call it). The restaurant owner approached me and asked about us. I thought we were getting into trouble so I let the acquaintances do the talking. They got business there and then!!!
ARRRGH!
I could have got that!! Then I spotted the friend, waved but felt rather uncomfortable. This dancing thing is a side of me not many people know. I spoke to her about it afterward and she seems fine with it but I don’t want people to think I’m nothing but a shallow entertainer. I’m deep man, real deep. Me great intellect. To quote a very deep thinker, I’m like an onion. I’ve got layers.

Amen to that, Shrek! :P

I'm enjoying this...

...may be too much!Lately i’ve been challenged quite regularly to say something unusual to a random waitress or cashier. Been asked to say something in Urdu once – cant remember what it was now- in gibberish another time, yesterday called a waiter “bruv” . Nothing antisocial or radically out there but I did it quite easily. I wouldnt have dreamt of doing anything like this say a month ago! What changed? Well I realised that my fear of people’s reaction to me is largely unfounded. May be I can use this principle so I can feel freer around people who know me too!

My comfort zone is getting larger...

...or perhaps I’m crazier and crazier! I went to a restaurant where there was a piano. The waitress notices the excitement of my face (she was rather good looking too) and asks me if I could play and if I would like to have a go. I said ” Yes please!” faster than light. I thought about what I could play (I’m more of a keyboard player really) then opted for “Ain’t no sunshine” by Bill Withers. I didn’t just play. I also sang. The waitress looked at me. I looked back with a smile. I made quite a few mistakes while playing but I don’t care! Even though the restaurant was rather full. I was gutsy on that one…or was I?? :P

break danced 3 times...

...in front of prospects so far! Becoming a bit of a trend! It was a dare each time. 2 prospects loved it, 1 didn’t even react. Weird…But it’s funny how one’s comfort zone can get bigger and bigger…One day may be nothing will scare me? :-P

not majorly out of my comfort zone but...

...not what I usually do on a day’s work:
#1: kinda break danced while pitching someone (well just in the intro and it wasn’t really a prospective client)
#2: writing this while I’m watching football on the big screen in a pub (don’t really like football all that much, I’m more of a basketball man myself) but the atmosphere is quite amazing….ok at this point I have to say it’s part of work special treat so kinda had to go but its good! :-)

By the way, England won 3-2 against Sweden. Nice.

Why?

Cause I am the accumulation of choices I previously made. they got me somewhere I don’t like, however comfortable it may be. To get to where I want to be, I need to step out of that.
